Heroes Stadium — San Antonio, TX

Friday night under the lights had that electric San Antonio buzz. The Reagan student section was loud early — cowbells, chants, and the “Let’s go Rattlers!” drumbeat that never quit. Madison rolled in wearing their white jerseys, looking fired up and ready to prove something.
But Reagan came out like a team on a mission. Linebacker-turned-running-back Ayden Fernandez punched through the Mavericks’ front repeatedly. He racked up three touchdowns and energized the crowd every time he hit the end zone. Each score felt heavier than the last — not just points, but statements.

By halftime, Reagan led 17-3, and you could feel the Madison side getting restless. The Mavericks tried to find rhythm behind QB Caleb Allen, who flashed speed and composure. His 18-yard touchdown run late in the third quarter excited Madison fans. They thought maybe — just maybe — the comeback was brewing.

Then Reagan’s defense slammed the door. They were flying to the ball, making open-field tackles that drew roars from the stands. Andre Salazar’s 45-yard field goal in the third quarter was a beauty. It was straight and true. The Reagan sideline mobbed him like he’d hit a game-winner.

The Rattlers were in full control y the fourth quarter. Fernandez added his third TD, and Salazar iced it with another field goal. Madison fought hard to the final whistle. Manning’s late field goal was all pride and heart. However, the night belonged to Reagan.

The horn sounded. The Rattlers’ band blared their victory song. The student section waved flags and phone lights in the cool October air. Madison’s players lingered a little longer. Their helmets were off, and their hands were on their hips. They knew they’d left it all on the field. However, they ran into a team that just had a little more.
