Trinity 76, Sewanee 17 — Week 9, 2026 Season

Sewanee came to San Antonio fired up. On its first three drives it scored two touchdowns and a field goal, and led 17-14. It looked like Trinity’s final home game was going to be a long fight. It wasn’t. From that moment, Trinity scored 62 straight points and closed with a 76-17 rout.

The setup

The Trinity Tigers (6-1 overall, 3-1 in the SAA) hosted the Sewanee Tigers (1-6, 0-4) at Trinity Stadium, in their last regular-season home game. Trinity is listed at No. 15 on its own athletics site. Trinity won at Sewanee last year, and this year the Battle of the Tigers was played in San Antonio.

What decided the game

The opening minutes were a back-and-forth. Barton Mixon opened with a 2-yard run for Sewanee. Trinity answered in two plays: Hondo Franklin hit Maddox Morkovsky on a 68-yard pass. Cam Beasley put Sewanee back in front with a 48-yard run, and Franklin tied it again with a 58-yard pass to Alejandro Tavarez. Then Levi Dorsey kicked a 38-yard field goal for a 17-14 Sewanee lead.

That was Sewanee’s last score. Luke Sams went in from 5 yards for 21-17, and Trinity never slowed down. In the second quarter it scored four more times, including three touchdown passes from Welker Horn (to Tavarez, Chase Ravain, and Tyson Hancock) and a 1-yard run by Hunter Pavlicek, to lead 48-17 at halftime. The 48 first-half points are the most in a half in Trinity’s modern era, according to the school.

The second half brought more touchdowns: a 3-yard run by Horn and a 1-yard run by Jack Kayser. In the fourth quarter, Davis Roup threw two more touchdowns, to Gianni Pisano and Blake Burdine. Three Trinity quarterbacks threw touchdown passes (Franklin, Horn, and Roup), for seven in total.
